Times changed and magazines and websites started to review notebooks even before they were released and I tried to evolve my "blog" into a gadget site because I was adding digital camera and cell phone reviews. But I had less time to do so and while I tried to get other people to help me with reviews, it slowly died off and I "retired" sometime around 2003. Interestingly enough, most of the companies I did notebook reviews for are no longer around... the one notable survivor being Dell.
So why am I starting up again? Well, I'm not trying to be the next Gizmodo, Engadget or Boy Genius... but I'm going back to why I started in the first place, to chronicle my own search for the perfect gadget (whether it be a notebook, phone, camera or MP3 player) and to ramble about stuff that I consider "nerdy". You'll find a variety of posts covering not only consumer technology but other things like TV shows, movies and life in general.
And since it's the hottest thing right now (including today's announcement of iPhone OS 4.0), you need to be a bit nerdy to understand this from one of my favorite newspaper strips, Foxtrot (I think Bill Amend is a nerd as much of his strip contains pseudo code):
I will probably not get an iPad but I am amazed at how Apple is so good at selling their products. I do wish some PC makers would follow their cues and make notebooks like theirs... they are amazing.
Hopefully you'll ride along for BigNerdBlog 3.0, some stuff you may relate to, others you may not... but feel free to read and comment as I try out this "blog" thingy.
